Gene has a clever way of painting word pictures.
Thanks, Stuart!
This is gorgeous, Gene. And that it’s art-inspired makes it all the better.
Thanks, Kate. Wow! No one’s ever called any of my poems gorgeous before.
I really loved this poem. It made me do a search of Edward Hopper paintings just now, so thanks for the great poem, and for the virtual trip through Hopper’s works. I had a print of his “Lighthouse at Two Lights” in my living room for many years.
Thanks, Lori. I did the same while writing the poem – a labor of love for me, as I have always been a big fan.
Loved the poem and loved how you put yourself right in the painting.
Thanks, Janice.
Gene,
I’ve always been attracted to Hopper’s painting of the diner. So rich and vivid detail that it looks like you could just step right inside. And, in fact, you did, and took the reader with you. Thank you!
Thanks, Hank! Yes, rich and vivid detail – that’s Hopper alright.
